Redundant DNS Servers
The additional 4 redundant DNS servers for netCatalog's Clustered Hosting customers are located on four completely seperate networks in four different countries and each DNS server has backups and failsafes, making netCatalog clustered hosting a cost effective and highly reliable hosting platform for mission critical websites.
Why do you need redundant DNS Servers?
A significant threat to today's websites is a "denail of service" attack. Instead of hacking into your website, a hacker can simply overwhelm your DNS server and cause all the websites that the DNS server supports to go down for a period of time. If your website has multiple redudant DNS servers that are in no way related to the company providing the hosting, or the server or network that the website resides on, then you are highly unlikely to be affected by a Denial of service attack, since the other DNS servers would look after your website when one of the servers is under attack. Hosting companies employ security tools to respond to attacks, but this can still leave DNS servers unable to respond for a number of hours while engineers respond to the attack.
